It is important to recognize that jewelry will always have as a motive to highlight the beauty of the wearer, for this reason it is important the material in which they are made and mainly the tastes and preferences of people. The more comfortable the wearer feels, the better the jewelry will look.
Why is costume jewelry the cheapest option but not exactly the best option for you?
- Quality decreases over time
It is not a secret that in general costume jewelry is beautiful and with an accessible price, however if we compare a high quality jewelry made with gold or silver with glass, fabric or metal jewelry, definitely the quality of the jewelry will not be durable.
- Savings in the short term, but a higher expense in the long term
Practically at the moment of purchasing costume jewelry you should take into account that its useful life will not last forever, so each time and when you will have to make a new purchase, which means that throughout your life you will assume a greater expense for products that at some point you will have to discard.
- Allergies and infections
While it is true that costume jewelry pieces combine perfectly with your outfit, however over time they tend to become opaque and sometimes imitation metals with low quality such as copper and nickel mainly, will stain your skin green and generate allergies and infections whether earrings, necklaces, bracelets or rings, in such cases should be avoided immediately the use of the pieces.

- Yellow gold
Pure gold is a soft yellow precious metal and its name comes from the Latin "aurum", which means "bright dawn". To maintain its natural color with the alloy that allows us to work it in jewelry with the law of 18 karat (18 parts of pure gold for every 24 parts of metal), we mix it with silver and copper. The usual mixture, or "alloy" or "league" consists of 750 thousandths of pure gold, 125 thousandths of pure silver and 125 thousandths more of pure electrolytic copper in each gram of 18kilatest yellow gold.
- White gold
White gold is a modern technique that consists of turning a yellow metal into white by combining only 250 thousandths of a thousand. The alloy consists of keeping 75% pure gold (750 thousandths per gram), which is what gives us the proportion of 18 karat gold. The difference is that the remaining 25% (250 thousandths per gram) is white metal: silver, platinum, palladium, manganese.
- Rose gold
What is the trick to turn a yellow metal like gold into a pink metal? We add more red color and less white color. That is, we keep the gold pure at 75% (750 thousandths per gram), which is what gives us the proportion of 18 Karat gold. The difference is that instead of alloying it with 12.5% (125 thousandths) of pure silver and another 12.5% (125 thousandths) of pure electrolytic copper, which results in yellow gold, we alloy it with a higher proportion of copper. In this way we increase the red color in the mixture, and the resulting metal offers a more reddish color, which mixed with the yellow appears pink, or perhaps "straw-colored".
- Silver
Sterling silver hardly produces allergies in those who wear it, since it is a natural product that does not contain nickel. If the jewelry is made with sterling silver, it can last for many years, since the silver is mixed with alloys that give it strength and durability.
- Gold plating
"Gold plating" is used to describe the material of products that have an extremely thin layer of gold applied by a rigorous process over another material mainly silver.
At CASTRO 1936 you can customize your jewelry with the 3 types of gold and 925 sterling silver.
